Welcome
Your first visit — step by step
Starting psychiatric care shouldn't be the hardest part. Here's exactly what to expect, what to bring, and how to make the most of your initial evaluation.
Book Your First VisitTHE PROCESS
Four steps from "booked" to feeling better
Book your appointment
Choose a time on our online scheduler — most new patients are seen within 5–10 business days.
- Pick the state where you'll be physically located during the visit
- Select an initial evaluation slot (60 minutes)
- You'll receive an email confirmation immediately
Complete your intake
We'll send a secure link to your patient portal where you can finish paperwork from any device.
- Demographics, insurance, and emergency contact
- Mental health history, medications, and medical conditions
- Validated screeners (PHQ-9, GAD-7, plus condition-specific tools)
- Consents for telehealth, treatment, and HIPAA
Meet your provider
Connect via our secure video platform from anywhere in your licensed state.
- Comprehensive psychiatric assessment (60 min)
- Review of history and any pre-visit screeners
- Collaborative discussion of treatment options
- Medications, lab orders, or therapy referrals as needed
Ongoing care
Follow-up visits, secure messaging, and refills — all through your patient portal.
- Follow-up visits every 2 weeks to 3 months depending on stability
- Secure portal messaging for questions and refill requests
- Outcome tracking with the same validated screeners
- Coordination with your therapist and primary care provider
Preparing for a telehealth visit
Telehealth is the same standard of care as an in-person visit — just from a place where you feel comfortable.
Reliable internet
A stable Wi-Fi or wired connection. 1.5 Mbps up/down is the minimum.
Camera + microphone
A phone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera and mic.
Private space
Somewhere you can speak openly without being overheard.
Headphones
Optional but recommended — they help with focus and privacy.
What to have ready
- A current list of all medications (prescription, OTC, and supplements)
- Names and doses of psychiatric medications you've tried in the past
- Pharmacy name and ZIP code (for e-prescribing)
- Names of any other providers you'd like us to coordinate with
- Questions you want to make sure we cover
A few telehealth limits
Telehealth works for the vast majority of psychiatric care, but some situations are better handled in person or with an in-state referral.
- Active mental-health crises requiring same-day, in-person evaluation
- Controlled substance prescriptions when state or federal rules require an in-person visit
- You must be physically located in a state we're licensed in (AZ, OR, MD, WA) at the time of the visit
